Top 7 Barriers to Adoption of Digital
Health Technology by Caregivers
According to Cambia Health's recent white
paper "Wired for Care", 25% of caregivers
cited data privacy concerns to be the reason
why they are reluctant to adopt digital health
technology to monitor the health of loved ones
they support. 25% prefer to
do themselves to ensure it is done right; 24%
prefer to speak/interact with live person; 21%
believe the cost for digital health tools are
too high; 19% think there are too many tools,
and logins to keep track of; and 17% are not
aware of digital health technology.

Report: Digital Health Tools Fail to Keep Up with
Patients’ Expectations Patients increasingly expect
their healthcare providers to offer apps and other digital
health tools to assist with a multitude of tasks,
including making appointments, checking their personal
health data, messaging care teams and accessing virtual
care. While many hospitals and health systems have rolled
out digital health offerings, a new research report from
the Center for Connected Medicine (CCM) finds that these
tools may not be keeping pace with patient expectations.

New Partnership Gives Pharmacies mHealth Tools for
Diabetes Prevention The American Pharmacists
Association (APhA) is making mHealth and telehealth an
integral part of its diabetes prevention efforts in
underserved communities through a new partnership. The
APhA Foundation announced last month that it would join
forces with The Kroger Company and Tabula Rasa Healthcare
to add connected health elements to its CDC-approved

New Study Cites Caregivers’ Desire for mHealth, Telehealth

Hospitals Two rural hospitals using an asynchronous
telehealth platform for eConsults with infectious disease
experts saw a sharp reduction in risk of death within 30
days, as well as a decreased risk of rehospitalization. In
a 2018 study conducted by The Mayo Clinic at two hospitals
within its network, the connected health platform helped
staff at these hospitals collaborate with ID specialists
at Mayo’s Rochester hospital on care management for some

Data breach leads to unauthorized access to
information for 7,500 patients, Iowa health
care company says More than 7,000
patients of a south-central Iowa medical
system have been notified that their personal
information may have been leaked in a data
breach. Monroe County Hospital & Clinics said
in a news release that approximately
7,500 people were notified that the breach may
have led to unauthorized access of their

against Sutter that alleged online privacy
breach Sacramento County Superior Court
Judge Christopher Krueger has dismissed a
lawsuit against Sutter Health that had alleged
the health-care giant was secretly sharing
their medical information with Facebook,
Google, Twitter and other third parties.

VA to delay rollout of Cerner EHR system, citing
interoperability issues The U.S. Department of
Veterans Affairs announced it has delayed the rollout of
its planned electronic health record modernization at the
Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington,
which was due to go live at the end of March. According to
a report in the government IT news site FCW, the EHR
system, based on Cerner’s Millennium software, requires

data sharing Van Nuys, Calif.-based Valley
Presbyterian Hospital implemented CommonWell Health
Alliance and Carequality's EHR data sharing program,
